№17OpenHuman–AI interaction

Art, music and culture reflect human creativity, history and identity. How do we ensure AI enriches them rather than making them generic and artificial?

Why it matters and what counts as progress

Why it matters: Paintings, music, architecture and literature are not just things that look or sound nice. They carry history, emotions, craftsmanship and cultural identity. If AI focuses on creating what is popular, easy to produce or immediately appealing, we risk ending up with more and more content that all looks and sounds the same. We could lose what makes art special and makes different cultures unique. What counts as progress: 1. AI helps us discover, understand and preserve beautiful things, and supports human creativity instead of just producing more content. 2. Clear and reliable watermarking makes it possible for people to distinguish between AI-generated and human-created content. 3. Strong regulations prevent the unauthorised use of people's voices, identities and artistic styles to mislead the public, for example by creating fake statements (philosophy), songs or artworks that people believe are authentic works by the original person or artist.
